TNA Reportedly Expect The Motor City Machine Guns To Sign With AEW

The Motor City Machine Guns could soon be All Elite following their WWE exit.
Friday, April 24, saw WWE make its latest round of talent releases in the aftermath of WrestleMania 42, with stars from across RAW, SmackDown, and NXT all departing the company. Two of the most notable names among those released were Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, collectively known as the Motor City Machine Guns, and there is now an update on what their future may hold.
Fightful Select are now reporting that, despite the door being open for a return to TNA Wrestling, sources within the promotion expect the pair to land in All Elite Wrestling.
“TNA sources spoke to Fightful and claimed there is always a home for them there, but that they expect All Elite Wrestling to be the eventual landing spot. We’ve not heard if AEW has made contact with the team.”

While there was initial uncertainty regarding the nature of several of last Friday’s departures from WWE, Chris Sabin took to X earlier today to reveal that both he and Alex Shelley were indeed released by the company.
The Motor City Machine Guns made their Friday Night SmackDown debut in October 2024 and remained on the blue brand until their release last week. The duo depart as former WWE Tag Team Championship holders, adding to an already outstanding résumé built across TNA Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Ring of Honor, and beyond.
Prior to signing with WWE in late 2024, reports noted that the Motor City Machine Guns had held discussions with All Elite Wrestling before ultimately opting to join WWE. With free agency on the horizon, the duo could now be set to land in AEW later this year, although Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are expected to be subject to 90-day non-compete clauses, as is standard following main roster releases.
Another of the major departures from last Friday’s round of cuts by WWE was Kairi Sane. Reports have since revealed that there is frustration within the company over her release, given her involvement in the ongoing feud between IYO SKY and Asuka. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of the Motor City Machine Guns as soon as we hear more.
