Brody King On Political Statements In Wrestling: Our President Is In The WWE Hall Of Fame

AEW’s Brody King believes political statements belong in wrestling.
The February 4 edition of AEW Dynamite saw loud “F*ck ICE” chants erupt ahead of the main event between Brody King and MJF, with the reaction stemming from King’s vocal criticism of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and his previous support for the “Abolish ICE” movement.
When asked during a recent panel at Squared Circle Expo whether wrestling and politics can be separated, Brody King stated that art is inherently political and explained why professional wrestling in particular is tied to the current political climate in the United States.
“I just believe in what I think is right and wrong. I think all art forms, in its basis, are to make a statement. And whatever that is, good or bad, that is what art is for. And wrestling is an art form, and it is a way for people to express themselves. And when the masses are frustrated about something, that’s gonna come out a certain way. F*ck ICE. People want to say just shut up and wrestle, don’t talk about political statements. Our president is in the WWE Hall of Fame. That’s all I gotta say. I don’t care if he wrestled or not. He can go f*ck himself.”

Since first emerging in early February, “F*ck ICE” chants have remained a recurring feature across AEW programming when Brody King is on screen, although they have also broken out during a number of other segments.
Beyond Donald Trump’s status as a WWE Hall of Fame inductee, All Elite Wrestling’s competition is facing increased criticism over its political alignment, with Paul Levesque currently serving on the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, while Linda McMahon holds the position of United States Secretary of Education.
Furthermore, following WWE’s latest Rookie Class intake at the WWE Performance Center, reports claimed that the company was “politically forced” into signing Zoe Hines, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Brody King as soon as we hear more.
