Eddie Kingston Reflects On AEW Feud With CM Punk In 2021

Eddie Kingston has addressed fighting CM Punk in 2021, including the moment Punk got busted open.
After his stunning wrestling return in 2021, CM Punk’s second pay-per-view match saw him face Eddie Kingston. The feud was incredibly personal, playing off their history during the Chicagoan’s first run on the indies, and their clash at Full Gear 2021 was one of the most intense in company history. Now, ‘The Mad King’ has looked back on his rivalry with CM Punk over four years ago.
Appearing on a panel at Squared Circle Expo, Kingston talked openly about working with CM Punk in 2021.
“I didn’t say a word to him. We went in there and we fought. That’s it. Phil don’t like me. I don’t like Phil. That’s it. And that’s the way it’s gonna be. I’m not talking sh*t about him, it’s just the way it is. We don’t like each other. If we’re in the same company together, we’re gonna probably run into each other, put cops in front of us. That’s it. I don’t wish him bad. I don’t wish him good. Be over there. That’s it. He did bleed. I enjoyed the fck out of that, when he started bleeding. I whispered in his ear, I said, ‘Let me taste if there’s pssy in your f*cking blood.’ That shows you how much I don’t like him.”

Punk’s next pay-per-view appearance for All Elite Wrestling was his much-loved Dog Collar match with MJF at Revolution 2022, using the momentum from his victory to challenge for the AEW World Championship at that year’s Double Or Nothing. While his run with the company is often remembered for backstage altercations and clashes with other members of the roster, his first 12 months is looked back on fondly by fans, in large part to the Eddie Kingston feud.
As for Kingston himself, the height of his AEW run thus far has been his Triple Crown win at Revolution 2023 when he added the Continental Championship to the ROH World Title and the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship. At present, he’s looking to rebuild momentum having returned from longterm leg injury last year.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on both Eddie Kingston and CM Punk as soon as we hear more.
