AJ Styles Names Kenny Omega As His Dream AEW Opponent

AJ Styles names Kenny Omega as his dream opponent in AEW.
On January 31 at the Royal Rumble, AJ Styles’ in-ring career came to an end at the hands of GUNTHER, and while rumours initially suggested he could depart WWE for All Elite Wrestling, those reports now appear to have been put to rest.
Despite remaining with WWE following the end of his in-ring career, AJ Styles recently discussed the possibility of a run with All Elite Wrestling during a live Q&A on his Phenomenally Retro Podcast, where he named Kenny Omega as his dream opponent.
“The same dream match that everybody wants me to have with Kenny Omega. The match that’s never gonna happen unless something crazy happens, and I can’t imagine that. Kenny’s my buddy, so to be in the ring with him would be fun and we’d tear the house down, I have no doubt about that. But again, that’s not gonna happen.”

Kenny Omega and AJ Styles have squared off just once before in singles action, meeting at PCW’s Back To School Bash in 2006. The pair also shared the ring nearly a decade later, teaming together at NJPW New Year Dash!! 2016 against Shinsuke Nakamura and YOSHI-HASHI, a bout that later saw Omega remove Styles from his position as Bullet Club leader prior to his eventual move to WWE.
Following his in-ring retirement, AJ Styles has taken on a backstage role with WWE as a talent scout and was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026 last month.
Kenny Omega is set to team with The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, Chris Jericho, and The Hurt Syndicate to take on The Demand, The Dogs, Andrade El Idolo, and Mark Davis in a Stadium Stampede match at AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday, May 24 in Queens, New York.
