Kaitlyn: My Mae Young Classic Match With Mia Yim Is Enough If I Never Wrestle For WWE Again

Kaitlyn says her match with Mia Yim is enough if she doesn’t wrestle for WWE again.
In 2018, WWE held the second edition of the Mae Young Classic. In the second round, Kaitlyn met Mia Yim, with the woman now known as Michin getting the win over the former Divas Champion. As of writing, it remains Kaitlyn’s most recent WWE match, and she’s now discussed being content if she doesn’t wrestle for them again.
Speaking to Rewind Recap Relive, Kaitlyn explained that she’s content if her match with Mia Yim is her last for WWE.
“I had two matches. My first one, the woman I was wrestling was very new. We had a good match. But then my second match was with Mia Yim, and her and I had such a sick match. I love her. When I left wrestling, I launched Celestial Bodiez. That was women’s athletic wear. She was repping my stuff and tagging me and supporting me for years. That was my first time meeting her in person, and then I got to wrestle her, and she’s so good, — I had told her after our match, because I really loved it so much. My last match before I left in 2014, I did not love that. I felt sick to my stomach. It was not a good situation. I had asked for my release the day before and they asked me to stay one more day. Then they gave me a last match and I think it was on Main Event or Superstars or something. I took a Superkick to the face from Tamina, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. At that point, I just wanted to get out of there. So going back and having that match with Mia Yim, my second match in the Mae Young Classic. I was like, if I never get in the WWE ring again, this match was enough for me for that to be like, ‘This was my last WWE match.’ Because I loved it so much.”

The 2018 Mae Young Classic was won by Toni Storm when the Australian defeated Io Shirai in the final. As it stands, the tournament was the second and final Mae Young Classic held by WWE, although it remains to be seen as to whether they bring it back, or a similar women’s-only tournament, in future.
The initial tournament was won by Shayna Baszler over Kairi Sane in the final. The pair would go on to have a memorable feud over the NXT Women’s Championship, with many of the Mae Young Classic participants going on to begin their careers on WWE’s developmental brand. For Kaitlyn, though, it served as a final run with the company before moving on.
After taking part in 2018, Kaitlyn wrestled a total of four matches across 2019 for GWA and SFA. The 39-year-old has since retired and has been absent from the ring for almost seven years.
Elsewhere, Kaitlyn discussed AJ Lee’s WWE return, saying she thought she’d never see the day Lee was back in the company. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Kaitlyn as soon as we hear more.
