Dustin Rhodes gives an injury update.

Back in August 2025, Dustin Rhodes underwent double knee replacement surgery. Initially, the 57-year-old aimed to be back in the ring in March this year, though, as we enter June, the wrestling veteran is still yet to step back between the ropes. Now, Rhodes has given an update on his ongoing recovery and how close he is to being able to return to competition.

Speaking on What Happened When, Dustin Rhodes revealed he’s almost redid for an in-ring comeback, underlining that he’s looking at around two more years before retirement.

“Been back to work a little bit for coaching. Not quite cleared yet, but I think we’re very close. I can’t wait to see what I can do for the next year and a half, two years before I retire.”

On the July 31, 2025 episode of Collision, Dustin Rhodes wrestled his most recent match, putting the TNT Championship on the line against Kyle Fletcher. That night, ‘The Protostar’ earned his first singles title in AEW, sidelining the 38-year pro in the process. The Australian has since gone on to have two reigns with the gold, with his most recent run only ending due to injury.

While his TNT Championship reign was short and sweet for Rhodes, the star had enjoyed reigns as one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions with Sammy Guevara and one-third of the ROH World Trios Championships with The Von Erichs prior to his surgery.
