WWE Reportedly Does Not Expect SummerSlam To Be Brock Lesnar’s Final Match
Brock Lesnar’s WWE career is expected to continue beyond SummerSlam.
Night One of WWE SummerSlam on August 1 will see Brock Lesnar face Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell in a match that has long been speculated to be Lesnar’s final in-ring outing, largely because the event is taking place in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
However, that may not be the case. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, the belief within WWE is that Lesnar is not expected to retire at SummerSlam. Instead, one source expects “The Beast” to step away from the ring before returning ahead of WrestleMania 43 next year.
“Sources have told WrestleVotes Radio that the feeling within WWE is that the Hell In A Cell match against Oba Femi at SummerSlam is not expected to be the final match of Brock Lesnar’s career. One source said that they’d be surprised if Lesnar didn’t step away from television for a while before resurfacing in time for WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia.”

The report also noted that Lesnar has long operated in a way that keeps his plans from leaking. As a result, if SummerSlam does prove to be his in-ring swansong, it is not something that is widely known or actively being discussed backstage.
Lesnar, who lost to Oba Femi on Night One of WrestleMania 42 in April, teased his retirement after the match by leaving his boots in the ring. However, the gesture ultimately proved to be a red herring, as Lesnar returned to WWE TV and defeated Femi in a rematch at WWE Clash in Italy on May 31.
The upcoming Hell in a Cell match between Oba Femi and Lesnar will serve as the rubber match in their rivalry. It is one of the most highly anticipated bouts on the SummerSlam card and promises to be a memorable clash, although it remains to be seen whether it will be the final time fans see the former multi-time world champion compete in a WWE ring.
