Jody Threat Officially Departs TNA Wrestling

Jody Threat has left TNA Wrestling after requesting and being granted her release from the company.

On August 3, Mike Johnson of PWInsider first reported that Jody Threat had asked to be let go from TNA, with it believed that the company had agreed to the request. Now, there’s been an official announcement on Threat’s future with TNA Wrestling.

Shortly after the initial report, TNA themselves published a press release announcing multiple departures from the company, one of which being former Knockouts Tag Team Champion Jody Threat. Her final appearance came on the live July 30 episode of Impact from Philadelphia, where she lost to Jada Stone in a quarterfinal of the Knockouts Television Title tournament.

The 38-year-old’s exit comes just over six months after she signed a new deal with the promotion. TNA announced on January 14 that Threat had re-signed following the expiry of her previous contract on December 1, 2025, with the Toronto native saying at the time that the new agreement gave her the chance to prove what she could do as a singles competitor after splitting with her Spitfire tag team partner Dani Luna.

Threat joined TNA in 2023 and put together a six-match winning streak to open her run before losing to then-Knockouts World Champion Deonna Purrazzo. She and Dani Luna beat MK Ultra at Sacrifice on March 8, 2024 to win the Knockouts World Tag Team Titles, the first championship of her TNA career, and the pair went on to hold the belts twice.

Her departure continues a run of exits from the Knockouts division this year. Dani Luna was granted her release early in 2026 and Myla Grace followed in June, while Tessa Blanchard left last month after being asked to choose between TNA and CMLL. TNA also announced the release of Victoria Crawford, known to WWE audiences as Alicia Fox, on July 24.

The wider roster has seen similar movement. Two-time TNA World Champion Eric Young was released on July 1 and confirmed the same day that he had requested it, while fellow two-time TNA World Champion Mike Santana, who now competes in WWE as Cruz Montana, left when his contract expired after dropping the title to Nic Nemeth at Slammiversary. Steve Maclin also requested his release, and Tommy Dreamer, Sami Callihan and Sinner and Saint have all moved on as well.
