The Miz Says Brock Lesnar Embracing Oba Femi At SummerSlam Didn’t Come From WWE Creative

The Miz says the hug was not part of pre-agreed creative plans.

Starting with their clash at WrestleMania 42 this past April, Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar has been a major feud on WWE TV. The pair both won a match each before Femi came out in top of their final match this past weekend. Brock Lesnar has since confirmed his retirement from the ring, making peace with his rival at the end of their match through a respectful embrace. Another WWE star has revealed that this was apparently called on the fly.

Speaking on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, The Miz has explained that this was Brock’s idea:

“I think everyone was shocked about Brock Lesnar, and it wasn’t the fact that he lost. It was the fact that after the match, he was walking out of the ring and then turned back around and basically, as we call it, gave Oba Femi the rub. People don’t understand, like, creative didn’t tell [him to do that]. Brock does what Brock wants to do. Brock isn’t told something. When he feels it, he just goes after it and does it.”

If this is it for Brock Lesnar, he concludes his career as a 10-time World Champion in the WWE, having won the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, and King of the Ring along the way. Outside of the company, Lesnar also won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in NJPW and became a 2-time UFC Heavyweight Champion during a storied MMA career.

However, it’s worth noting that Lesnar previously teased retirement at WrestleMania, leaving his boots in the ring before returning to competition at Clash In Italy, so many fans are choosing to wait before fully believing that “The Beast” has called it a career.
