Chelsea Green Confirms Broken Orbital Bone Suffered On WWE SmackDown

Chelsea Green has confirmed that she suffered a broken orbital bone during Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
On the August 7 SmackDown, Chelsea Green teamed with Tiffany Stratton to challenge WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. To end the match, Jacy Jayne caught Green with the Rolling Encore behind the referee’s back, allowing Henley and Reid to hit the Fatal Flaw for the pin. After the bell, Nia Jax and Lash Legend attacked Chelsea, with Jax closing the segment holding the WWE Women’s Championship. However, it appears Green didn’t escape the night unscathed.
Initially, Bryan Alvarez of F4W reported after the show that Green had been hurt during the match, though the nature of the injury was not known at the time. Now, the Interim Women’s Champion has addressed her injury on Instagram,
“I have a broken orbital bone. It looks amazing, all things considered, it feels awful but looks pretty amazing. I have no idea what that means for me. Usually you guys would see me play into every single injury but this feels different. This feels very different. It feels frustrating. I’m upset. I feel like if I didn’t have bad luck, I’d have no luck at all. I just need to take a little bit more time to process.”

The injury comes just five days after Green won the Interim WWE Women’s Championship on SummerSlam night two, beating Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Lash Legend and Tiffany Stratton in a five-woman ladder match at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
It also follows a difficult stint earlier this year. Green broke her ankle during an Elimination Chamber qualifying match on the February 6 episode of SmackDown, chipping and cracking the inner ankle bone, and spent months in a walking boot before returning to in-ring action.
Green has not given a timetable for her recovery, and WWE has not yet commented on her status.
