Austin Creed & Kofi Reportedly Expected To Sign With AEW Soon

Kofi and Austin Creed are expected to join AEW in the near future.

As of writing, fans are still awaiting what’s next for Austin Creed and Kofi. Both men had signed new deals in 2025 that would have kept them with WWE through 2030, but the company approached the pair in the spring of this year about restructuring those contracts to take significant reductions in pay. Rather than accept the terms, the two asked to be released, and their exits were confirmed on May 2. Since then, it’s been widely believed that the pair are headed to AEW, and speculation ramped up once again when Swerve Strickland came face to face with trios champions Hangman Page and Brodido on last night’s Dynamite. However, the former WWE stars don’t appear to have signed just yet.

According to Fightful Select, sources would not outright confirm that Austin Creed and Kofi have signed with the company, though it was noted the expectation is that the two are joining soon.

Kofi wrestled as Kofi Kingston across two decades in WWE, while Austin Creed spent 16 years there under the name “Xavier Woods”. The two formed The New Day alongside Big E in 2014 and became one of the most decorated trios in company history, holding tag team gold across Raw, SmackDown and NXT. Kingston holds the record for the most combined days as a tag team champion in WWE history, and he is a Grand Slam Champion, having won the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 along with four Intercontinental Championships and three United States Championships. Most notably for Woods’ singles career, he won the King of the Ring tournament in 2021.

Both men have remained active on the convention circuit since their WWE departures. Chris Jericho announced on Tuesday, August 11 that Kofi and Austin Creed have been added to the seventh Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea, which sails from Miami to Bimini in the Bahamas between November 7 and 11.
