Kyle Fletcher: The AEW Men’s World Championship Is What I Want, It’s All About Timing
Kyle Fletcher understands that pro wrestling is all about timing.
This Sunday, AEW International Champion Kyle Fletcher will have his hands full at AEW: All In London when he defends the gold against his former best friend Konosuke Takeshita and his stablemate Kazuchika Okada. However, at just 27 years old, “The Protostar” is someone many consider a future world champion, and Fletcher has now stated his intention to reach the top of the mountain in future.
In an interview with Adam Barnard of The Sportster, Fletcher spoke about how important it is to remain the International Champion, though he noted that pro wrestling is all about timing, saying clearly that he wants the AEW Men’s World Championship in due time.
“It’s a very difficult question for me to answer right this second because I’m doing my very best to remained focused on the task at hand, International Title, and this Triple Threat at All In. But obviously, I keep up with what everybody’s got going on. I keep my finger on the pulse of the wrestling world. I like to know what’s happening. Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega is a gigantic match. The main event of Wembley Stadium for the World Title. We’re gonna see who the very best is. That World Title is something that I’ve been very clear that I want, and I think pro wrestling is all about timing. Everything is about being right place, right time. I’m focusing on the match at All In. I’m focusing on the Triple Threat. If we reassess after that point, and the timing feels right, then plans will be put in place.”

While he’s walking in as champion, it’s worth noting that Fletcher was not successful in his attempt to win gold at last year’s AEW: All In in Arlington, Texas at Globe Life Field. Competing against two of the top names on the roster, he must first try to keep hold of International Championship inside Wembley Stadium in front of a jam-packed loud crowd before looking up the card.
Although he’s performing earlier in the night, Fletcher will be keeping a keen eye on AEW: All In’s main event when Kenny Omega looks to successfully defend the Men’s World Championship against the winner of the 2026 Owen Hart Memorial Cup, Will Ospreay. Having unsuccessfully fought for the top prize at All Out 2025, many will be hoping it isn’t long before the Australian steps up to challenge again in future.
