Willow Nightingale Set For X-Ray On Broken Hand Ahead Of AEW All In: London
Willow Nightingale has provided an update on her status ahead of AEW All In.
One of the biggest concerns for wrestling promoters and fans heading into a major event, whether it’s a weekly TV show or a PPV, is the possibility of a wrestler suffering an injury. During Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, fans AEW Women’s World Champion Willow Nightingale holding her hand during a vignette with Mercedes Moné, with it later being confirmed that she had suffered a broken hand.
Despite the injury, Nightingale remains scheduled to wrestle at AEW All In: London. Speaking with POST Wrestling, she provided an update on her condition and confirmed that she is set to undergo an X-ray to determine the extent of the injury.
“Well, she’s broken. I have to go get an X-ray later today to figure out the severity of that because that would then inform just how guarded it has to be on Sunday. Whether I’m able to get any kind of wrist flexibility, or just hands, or if I’m gonna kind of have a situation where I’m just like a stump. So, we’ll see. But the heart is good. She’s full of love and passion, and ready to fight.”

On the one hand, no pun intended, it’s encouraging that Nightingale remains cleared to compete. However, there will naturally be some concern over how the injury could affect the style and intensity she is able to bring to her AEW Women’s World Championship defence against Mercedes Moné at Wembley Stadium. It remains to be seen how much of a factor the injury will ultimately be, but it could potentially limit what Nightingale is able to do if she is not at full strength.
Another question surrounding the situation is whether Nightingale’s injury could have an impact on the outcome of her match with Mercedes Moné. If the injury proves more serious than initially hoped, there could be a case for Nightingale losing the title or relinquishing it to allow her to recover properly.
However, if the injury is less severe, AEW could potentially manage her workload by spacing out title defences and other in-ring appearances. Much will depend on the results of her X-ray and how Nightingale is feeling ahead of Sunday.
