AEW Have Reportedly Held Talks With KAIRI, Believed She’s Yet To Be Signed
KAIRI has been in talks with AEW following her WWE departure.
Among the many WWE releases that happened this year, KAIRI was one of the more shocking names on the chopping block. The former NXT Women’s Champion was in the midst of a storyline with Asuka, as the company continued to tease dissension between them on RAW heading into WrestleMania season. However, she was let go without giving viewers a true payoff, sparking frustration among WWE’s fanbase. Now a free agent, more details have emerged on where KAIRI’s future may lie.
According to an update from Fightful Select, it’s believed All Elite Wrestling have held talks with KAIRI, though a deal is yet to be completed. It’s also noted that Marigold isn’t expected to be where she lands.
“We’re told that there have been talks between All Elite Wrestling and Kairi, a deal just hasn’t been completed. There are a number of companies currently interested in the Japanese star, including outside of the United States. When we spoke to sources familiar with the situation, we were told Marigold is not expected to end up as Kairi’s home in Japan.”

AEW’s pursuit of KAIRI lines up with the star hiring Barry Bloom as her representative back in July, as the agent has previously been key in negotiating new deals for The Elite, bringing Josh Alexander to the company, and more. Following the recent trend, hiring Bloom typically suggests a performer is looking to negotiate with All Elite Wrestling.
The report notes that KAIRI was never factored into plans for All In: London, but, should she soon join the company, she’ll certainly be a boost to the women’s division. First and foremost, she has history with the current AEW Women’s World Champion, Mercedes Moné, dating back to when “The CEO” once interrupted KAIRI’s celebration at Wrestle Kingdom 17 before later defeating her for the IWGP Women’s Championship.
Other than that, the current free agent could also mix it up with some more of the roster’s best talent, such as Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, and Thekla. For now, though, whether KAIRI becomes “All Elite” remains to be seen.
