Will Ospreay Discusses Kicking Out Of One Winged Angel At All In: London

Will Ospreay discusses the significance of kicking out of the One Winged Angel at AEW All In: London.

In modern wrestling, while a finishing move is meant to be a definitive end to a match, fans are used to important matches featuring multiple kickouts before the end is truly in sight. For Kenny Omega, though, the One Winged Angel almost always secures victory, with only one person having truly kicked out of in his history before at All In: London. In a contentious moment, Will Ospreay became the second man to ever truly survive the move, going on to win the AEW World Championship at Wembley Stadium. Now, “The Aerial Assassin” has reflected on the kickout.

When talking with Chris Van Vilet on Insight, Will Ospreay relayed his thoughts on how important the moment was.

“The thing that will never leave me ever. Kenny allowing me to kick out of the One Wing Angel. The significance and the importance behind that move cannot be understated. He has protected that move for 14 years. The only person to ever kick out of it was (Kota) Ibushi, who was his long-time tag partner. The fact that he allowed me, and you think about the historical feuds that he’s had: Okada, Tana, Ibushi, Hangman, and he saved it for me. That’s one of the biggest honors and the biggest accomplishments I think I’ve ever been given as a performer, as a wrestler.”

When Will kicked out of the One Winged Angel, the crowd at Wembley Stadium roared back to life, because it was then that any doubts were truly dispelled and they knew that their countryman would win the title. However, among wrestling fans as a whole, there was naturally a lot of discourse about a move so protected being kicked out of at All In: London, with many unsure whether anyone should’ve withstood it for the rest of Omega’s career.

That being said, as noted by Ospreay himself, “The Cleaner” opted for his opponent to kickout in what was the biggest match of the challenger’s career to date. Plus, those left wanting more, Ospreay teased a fifth match between the two for the AEW World Title should Kenny want a rematch, leaving the door open for more between them in future.
