New Level Discuss Having Swerve Strickland As Their New Third Man

The passion of Swerve Strickland has had a serious effect on Kofi and Austin Creed, and they’re fine with that.
When it emerged that Austin Creed and Kofi were likely to come to AEW, many felt they would instantly be put into the tag division and go for gold there. However, the duo, now called New Level, quickly forked trio with Swerve Strickland, going on to win the AEW World Trios Championships at All In: London. Now, the team have discussed what it’s like to have Strickland as their third man.
In a new episode of Close Up with Renee Paquette, Kofi and Austin highlighted the differences between them and Swerve, while also noting why they gel so well.
“I feel like it’s because we are how we are, and just happy… not happy go lucky, but we’re just really hyper positive. And Swerve is ready to commit crime.”
-Austin Creed
Expanding on this, Kofi recalled seeing Swerve go from someone who didn’t get opportunities in WWE to someone at the top of AEW.
“He’s ready to go to jail. I’m trying to go home, man. My kids got lacrosse… but it’s great. We all know how talented he is, and I think his come up has been just magnificent. We saw him in a role where he wasn’t being given an opportunity to shine, and knowing how talented he was. Then to see him come to AEW and rise to the top and have the high caliber matches that he’s had, being able to develop his character, being able to cut these promos, being able to burn people’s house down. To really understand why he was so frustrated… he’s so passionate. You put all of that passion into one cauldron, then you’re about to get some real good soup.”
-Kofi
Despite being less than a month into their time as a trio, fans are already praising the output of Strickland and The New Level. Their first two title defenses, coming against The Rascalz and The Conglomeration respectively, have shown what the former WWE World Tag Team Champions can do on a different stage, and many are looking forward to seeing went they do next.
As for Swerve, he’s commented on being with the New Level before, including showing serious love for Big E. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Swerve Strickland and The New Level as soon as we hear more.
