JBL Says Commentary Will Not Be Live At WWE Worlds Collide

JBL says Worlds Collide commentary will be recorded over the show the following week

This Saturday, WWE will host the latest entry in their Worlds Collide series of events, featuring talent from WWE, NXT, and AAA. These crossover events have become more and more common following the company’s acquisition of AAA in 2025. With a main event of CM Punk, Rey Mysterio, & El Grande Americano vs. Dominik Mysterio, Omos, & JD McDonagh, the show combines tensions from both WWE & AAA programming. However, according to a former WWE Champion, the show won’t be filmed with English commentary at the desk.

Speaking on his Something to Wrestle with JBL podcast, John Bradshaw Layfield explained that the show won’t have the commentators on hand.

“I am not gonna be there. We’re gonna call it, I think post-fact, but I’m not gonna be there. They asked me if I’d come in. I said, ‘Absolutely, I’d be happy to.’ But they’re not bringing the announcers in. I told them I’d be happy to come to Chicago, but they changed it. What they told us initially, and this was a few weeks ago, was that we’ll probably voice it over next week some time. They may have changed that since. I don’t know because they haven’t said anything about it since.”

Since the start of the year, JBL has been on the English commentary for AAA events alongside Corey Graves. The former APA member has worked on and off for the WWE as a commentator since his 2009 retirement. JBL also appeared in the promotion prior to the WWE buyout, accompanying Nic Nemeth to the ring at Triplemania XXXII in 2024. This was part of a series of non-WWE appearances in this fashion which also occurred in the likes of TNA & GCW.
