Chris Jericho may be sticking around in AEW after speculation of a WWE move.

Having been absent from AEW for almost exactly a year, speculation has run rampant over the status of Chris Jericho. Despite rumours of a possible move back to WWE, fans still don’t know what’s next for the star, with talk over his future beginning again when the 55-year-old filed to tradesmark ‘The Cornerstone’ on March 25. Now, new updates suggest he may actually be sticking with All Elite Wrestling going forward.

According to Fightful Select, it’s believed AEW have a growing belief that Chris Jericho will be back in the company.

Sources in AEW do have a growing belief that he will return to the company, especially with the nature of the trademark making more sense there. We’ve not heard anything regarding a WWE return at this stage. There has been a lot of chatter internally about Jericho possibly returning tonight.”

Adding onto this, Dave Meltzer then expressed that Jericho wasn’t expected to be in WWE anytime soon.

Regarding Jericho, I was told a week ago from WWE not to expect him in WWE any time soon, if ever, regarding rumors going around of him starting in WWE & AEW, both of which were out at the same time when he filed for the trademark.”

Fightful’s report notes that Jericho did have talks with WWE recently, though he was never factored into any of the company’s creative plans. With tonight’s edition of Dynamite set to emanate from Y2J’s hometown of Winnipeg, we may not have to wait long to find out what’s next. For now, though, whether he returns to AEW soon remains to be seen.

While Jericho has over 35 years experience in wrestling, he stated in a recent interview that he still has some career left to go, touching on his concerns for today’s crop of talent. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Chris Jericho’s AEW status as soon as we hear more.
