‘The Phenomenal One’ has addressed a possible return to TNA.
While he’s one of WWE’s biggest stars today, AJ Styles first gained prominence through his time in TNA. In the promotion, the 47-year-old is a six-time X-Division Champion and has had a total of four world title reigns, whether it be while the company were under the TNA name or when it was associated with the NWA. In recent times, given WWE and TNA’s recent partnership, many fans have been curious as to whether Styles could come back to his former home and it now seems possible.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, AJ discussed how he’d be interested in returning to TNA as a one-off.
“I don’t know (if my return to TNA Wrestling will happen). I’d like it to. I think it’d be fun to do something like that. Like a one-off. I would definitely do it… It would wouldn’t it (old TNA theme song would have to be used for my comeback)? It kind of would.”

Styles also confirmed that he visited TNA in December and was backstage at Final Resolution in Atalanta.
So, I went up and visited as they were in Atlanta. Maybe a month or two ago. Frankie Kazarian was there so I was able to hang out with him but there was so many other people there that I was like, ‘Oh my gosh. Oh wow,’ you know? Gail Kim, Christy Hemme, those are my guys. But, Eric Young, also there. But it was really cool to see — I thought it looked really good. I think they did a really good job and I know they don’t have a lot of money to work with but for what they had, I thought looked really good. I was like, man, these guys are really doing something. So, it’s exciting to see and I hope that we continue to work with TNA-WWE and help them as much as they’re helping us because NXT talent being shown in TNA and vice versa, it’s good for everybody.

Having touched on the topic of theme music earlier in the interview, AJ expanded on the decision to bring back his CFO$ entrance theme when he made his WWE return at the Royal Rumble.
“Yeah (it was my call to bring back the ‘Phenomenal’ WWE theme song). It was my call to change it (when I turned heel) too. Because as a bad guy, I thought my song was a little too cool. Everybody loves that song, I love the song. But that’s not who I was trying to be. I wanted you to not like me, that you despised me and I thought, well, if I change the song up, people are gonna hate it. Perfect. If they do, perfect, and then, when I knew I was coming back and I’m going to be the good guy again, I was like, ‘I want my old music back,’ and nobody said anything. They were like, ‘Yep! That’s fine.’ So, yeah, it was my decision.”

Styles is now back on RAW after overcoming a foot injury which kept him out of the ring for four months. His last match came on February 17 and many fans are excited to see what could be in store for him when WrestleMania 41 emanates from Las Vegas in April.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on AJ Styles as soon as we hear more.
