AJ Styles Names Penta & Chad Gable As Two WWE Stars He’d Have Liked To Face Before Retiring

AJ Styles wishes he had the opportunity to face Penta and Chad Gable before retiring from WWE.
Last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW featured a tribute to AJ Styles following his retirement at the hands of GUNTHER at the Royal Rumble on January 31. Having spent a decade with the company, Styles worked with some of professional wrestling’s finest, yet he leaves with regrets over matches that never came to be.
Appearing on last night’s Raw Recap, Styles said he wishes he had had the opportunity to work with Penta and Chad Gable before bringing his in-ring career to a close.
“I wonder what it would be like to be in there with Penta, to go back-and-forth. I’d love to get back in the ring with Chad Gable. I say I’d love that. Here I am retired, so that’s not gonna happen. The old timers, we always say this, ‘cause I’m one of those guys now. ‘Oh, we would have had a great match with that kid.’ There’s so many of those guys here.”

Penta is scheduled to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the WWE Intercontinental Championship on next week’s Monday Night RAW, while Chad Gable is currently performing as ‘The Original’ El Grande Americano.
After Styles delivered his farewell speech to the Atlanta, Georgia crowd, The Undertaker entered the ring and announced that ‘The Phenomenal One’ will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026.
Styles appeared genuinely surprised by the announcement, and reports suggest that WWE had not informed him of the moment beforehand. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the futures of AJ Styles, Penta, and Chad Gable as soon as we hear more.
