‘The Phenomenal One’ continues to be a major talking point as all eyes remain on his contract status.
Whilst reports last week indicated that AJ Styles, who signed a one-year extension with WWE following a foot injury, would be with the company until at least into next February, that’s not to say the 48-year-old has yet to consider his future.
According to Jon Alba of The Takedown on SI, there was mutual interest in Styles exploring the convention circuit prior to signing the one-year extension, though it’s unclear as to whether this extended to wrestling for other promotions.
“Multiple sources indicated to The Takedown on SI that prior to re-signing with WWE on his most recent extension, Styles did indeed put feelers out about potential options outside of the company. Specifically, it was noted he was generating major interest on the convention circuit from promoters, and it was mentioned that the interest was mutual, and at least exploratory. It is unclear as to whether or not Styles was looking into wrestling for other promotions.”

Speculation has been rampant since Styles posted a cryptic image of an hourglass to his Instagram story on September 5th, with eagle-eyed fans recently spotting his son responding to a comment suggesting Paul Levesque was disrespecting Styles with his booking and it upset him, stating “you ain’t the only one man,” before deleting the response.
Styles has been feuding with Dominik Mysterio as of late over the WWE Intercontinental Championship, losing to him at both SummerSlam and on Monday Night Raw in France last week.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of AJ Styles as soon as we hear more.
