‘The Phenomenal One’ has been surprised by CM Punk’s return to WWE thus far.
When CM Punk made his shocking return to WWE at the end of Survivor Series last year, many fans immediately questioned how the locker room would react, largely due to comments made by Punk during his absence, as well as the conduct that led to his contract termination at AEW.
During a recording of The Ringer Wrestling Show in Philadelphia ahead of WrestleMania 40, AJ Styles revealed that he was initially expecting there to be problems when Punk returned to the company, although he now admits that he was wrong to think so.
“I mean, if you know anything about A.J. Styles and CM Punk, you would know that we really don’t care for each other. But if you want me to ruin everything that you think you know, I can… Past performance predicts future behavior. Some over at AEW are my best friends, love ‘em, trust ‘em, know ‘em and I was expecting a problem when he came here and I was wrong. The guy looks like he’s happy to be here. He looks like a guy that I’d wanna step in the ring with and tear the house down with him.”

Punk currently finds himself sidelined with a triceps tear, whilst Styles is set to take on LA Knight this Sunday during Night 2 of WrestleMania 40.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the backstage perception of CM Punk in WWE as soon as we hear more.
