Andrade discusses the legal letter WWE sent AEW last year.

On October 1, Andrade surprised fans by showing up in AEW just weeks after being let go from WWE. However, the 36-year-old’s return to the company was short lived as it emerged that WWE had sent a legal letter indicating that he had a non-compete clause attached to his departure. At the time, reports suggested Andrade could be set to miss up to a year of in-ring action, but he was thankfully able to make a comeback to AEW earlier this year. Now, the star has reflected on the cease and desist which halted his momentum in late 2025.

Speaking to Shak Wrestling, Andrade was asked whether the cease and desist from WWE was in good faith. Here, he acknowledged that companies naturally compete with each other.

“It’s difficult to ask this question. Wrestlers compete, so imagine companies. I compete with Kenny so I want to show everyone I am better than Kenny Omega. I want to show I’m better than MJF. This is the companies, too. The companies compete, so I don’t know it’s a good way, bad way, but this happened. Now I am happy here in AEW, back to AEW, show everyone who Andrade El Idolo is. Show to the ladies, show to everyone who I am. So I’m happy now in this moment.”

Since returning to All Elite Wrestling in January, Andrade has been in and around the AEW World Championship. While he’s yet to compete for the title, the star has picked up key wins against the likes of Kenny Omega and Swerve Strickland as he looks to get his hands on the company’s top gold in future.

Tonight, Andrade will feature in one AEW Revolution’s most anticipated matches. Although the title isn’t on the line, the Don Callis Family member is set to clash with ROH World Champion Bandido as he hopes to build on his impressive win over Mascara Dorada on last night’s Collision.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Andrade as soon as we hear more.
