Backup could be on the way for Santos Escobar according the latest reports.
On the November 10th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Santos Escobar turned his back on the LWO following his involvement in Rey Mysterio’s loss to Logan Paul at Crown Jewel for the US Championship. Since then, Escobar has cemented himself firmly as a heel, however with the numbers game in the LWO’s favour, many fans are expecting the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion to put together a unit of his own.
That now appears to be the plan, as Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that Angel Garza & Humberto Carillo are currently scheduled to join Escobar in his feud with the LWO, with rumours also circulating regarding Elektra Lopez also potentially joining them.
“Regarding the LWO split, the original idea was for Wilde & Del Toro to stay with Escobar and feud with Rey & Carlito & a third person. From TV that would make sense to be Dragon Lee, as the idea of Lee being the guy they are hoping can be a future Mysterio-style flying so aligning them doing the endorsement thing would make sense. The Garzas are the ones who are scheduled at this point to replace Wilde & Del Toro on the Escobar side. There’s speculation of Lopez, who was with Escobar in NXT, being on that side to feud with Vega but that is not at all confirmed.”

With Rey Mysterio currently absent following knee surgery, it’s likely that his absence is the reasoning behind this reported change of plans. As for Garza & Carillo, the pair have both previously enjoyed stints on the main roster, although they currently ply their trade on NXT, where the real-life cousins have been reinvigorated during their feud with The Family.
Tomorrow night’s Survivor Series PLE in Chicago, Illinois will see the LWO’s Carlito take on Santos Escobar, and thus, it’ll be interesting to see whether The Garzas make their presence felt as soon as this weekend.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Angel Garza & Humberto Carillo potentially joining Santos Escobar on SmackDown as soon as we hear more.
