On May 16th last year, then-WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks & Naomi allegedly walked out of an episode of Raw, leading to both being indefinitely suspended and subsequently stripped of their titles. Banks would end up quietly leaving the company, and since signed to both NJPW & Stardom as Mercedes Moné, where she currently holds the IWGP Women’s Championship, however Trinity Fatu (Naomi) is yet to make her next move.

During a recent virtual signing for Golden Ring Collectibles, Fatu’s former tag team partner Ariane Andrew (known previously as Cameron) revealed that Fatu is currently dealing with a shoulder injury, thus explaining her absence from the ring.

“So, she (Trinity Fatu/Naomi) is recovering from shoulder surgery and you know, I want her to answer the question for herself (of what’s next for her). I know she’s recovering from shoulder surgery. But, I’m super proud of her. That’s my sister from another mister and I think you have to ask her for yourself how she’s feeling. See if her shoulder is feeling good because she’s recovering right now. Ask her that question.”

Ariane made a surprising return to WWE in 2022 as a part of the Royal Rumble match, however during the signing, she revealed that she was originally planned for an extended return, as there were discussions over her and Naomi capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships, although this ultimately fell through.

“2022 for me was not one of my best years. You’re gonna get tea… So I’m gonna give all the goodies… I’ve shared this but I think the more I can share, the better, so did the Royal Rumble… and then two days after, lost my dad, got called back to come back to WWE to get the Tag Team Titles with Naomi and then Thursday, they were (like), never mind, girl… Because Naomi and I were talking about gear.”

As of writing little is known about where Trinity Fatu is expected to land when she eventually recovers from her injury. The former WWE Superstar was present in Japan for Mercedes Moné’s debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January, however many believe she’ll eventually end up back in WWE when the time is right.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the future of Trinity Fatu as soon as we hear more, and we wish her all the best in her recovery.
