The ROH Women’s World Champion could be back sooner than expected.

Following an ROH taping on May 16th that saw Athena take on Viva Van in a Proving Ground match, there was heavy speculation that the ROH Women’s World Champion had suffered an ankle injury as she appeared to be limping after the bout.

Thankfully, it now appears as though the injury isn’t as bad as initially feared, as Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that she’s expected to return from her ankle injury in a few weeks.

“Athena’s injury, which was to her ankle, isn’t as bad as feared, and is expected back in a few weeks.”

-Dave Meltzer

Athena’s match with Viva Van was aired during last night’s episode of ROH on Honor Club, with the ‘Fallen Goddess’ unsurprisingly picking up the victory.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the injury status of Athena as soon as we hear more, and we wish her all the best in her recovery.
