Our thoughts go out to the WWE Hall of Famer and his family.
As one half of the U.S. Express alongside his brother-in-law Barry Windham, Mike Rotunda captured the NWA United States Tag Team Titles on five occasions and the WWF Tag Team Championship twice, adding three further reigns alongside Ted DiBiase while competing as Irwin R. Schyster (IRS).
Speaking to Bill Apter, a visibly emotional Barry Windham revealed the sombre news that Mike Rotunda is currently in hospice care.
“It’s kind of tough right now. You know, Mike is in hospice right now. I love that family.”
-Barry Windham
Towards the end of the interview, Apter asked Windham if he had a message for fans who had supported him over the years. Windham redirected the focus to Rotunda, urging fans to pray for his former tag team partner, a sentiment echoed by Apter.
“Well, it’s been a great ride, and I would like for you all to pray for Mike.”
-Barry Windham
During the interview, Windham also reflected on the tragic loss of his nephew, former WWE Champion Bray Wyatt, in August 2023, highlighting his kindness as his most remarkable quality.
“He was just a good boy. He was such a good person. Never got in trouble at all his whole life.”
-Barry Windham
The U.S. Express were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024, with both Mike Rotunda and his son Bo Dallas in attendance at the ceremony.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Mike Rotunda’s situation as soon as we hear more. Everyone here at WrestlePurists sends their best wishes to Rotunda and his family during this difficult time.
