Becky Lynch has addressed online criticism.

In the internet age, viewers can often be quick to turn against a wrestler who they think is being pushed too strongly. In more recent times, a more popular trend has been for a section of WWE’s online fanbase to start comparing someone believed to be winning too much to Hulk Hogan, with many stars being given the Hogan name on social media. Now, as a former recipient of the backlash, Lynch has directly addressed the ‘Becky Hogan’ claims.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Becky Lynch said the ‘Hogan’ tagline happens to everyone at the top of the card.

“I think that’s when you’re the top of the card, it happens to everybody. Nobody is unscathed. It was Sami Hogan. It might still be Sami Hogan. It’s Cody Hogan, it’s Roman Hogan, Seth Hogan, we’re all Hogan, which say what you will about the man, one of the biggest stars to ever exist. So, yeah, I think it becomes this thing. People don’t understand how creative happens and if they see somebody that is in a preferable spot for a long period of time, they go, okay, that’s because that person is politicking and trying to hold everybody down. So, you know, it’s just people don’t know how it happens, and they don’t know what goes into it, and that’s fine, you know? They’re entitled to have their opinions. I want you to have your opinions, go nuts with your opinions. But now I’m just gonna do what I do, and how you feel about me is how you’re gonna feel about me.”

Lynch hasn’t held a world title since her 33-day reign as Women’s World Champion in 2024. Shortly after that reign concluded, the 39-year-old took a break from WWE, returning at WrestleMania 41. Then, the Irishwomen turned heel on Lyra Valkyria, with her focus being predominantly on the Women’s Intercontinental Championship since last spring.

As part of her feud with Valkyria, Lynch debuted new theme music at SummerSlam 2025, feeling the change better suited her character. Elsewhere in the interview, she recalled how she got The Wonder Years to craft her new entrance song. You can read more about that here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Becky Lynch as soon as we hear more.
