Bianca Belair is taking time away from WWE, according to reports.
On May 27, Bianca Belair’s 420-day reign with the Raw Women’s Championship ended as she was defeated by Asuka. Belair had been the centrepiece of WWE’s women’s division for over a year by that point, but, following her recapturing of the title being cut short by Iyo Sky’s Money in the Bank cash-in, many wondered what the direction would be for the EST moving forward.
Bianca was most recently seen on the August 18 episode of SmackDown, where she was attacked by Damage CTRL after the 34-year-old had teamed with Charlotte Flair to defeat Iyo and Bayley. Specifically, the post-match beatdown focused on assaulting Belair’s knee, seemingly writing her character off TV for the time being.
To provide an update on her status, Fightful Select have clarified that the knee injury aspect of Belair’s write-off is purely part of the storyline, with it being a case of the star just receiving some time off which she was scheduled to take. Interestingly, the report notes that Bianca could be missing for anything between a few weeks and three months.
“Belair was planned for some time off, and was factored in creatively. However, we’ve heard differing things on how long she could be out, ranging from a few weeks (under a month) to possibly three months.”

This provides an Belair with a break following her recent work, but also gives WWE an opportunity to alter her character and have her re-emerge effectively later down the line.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any future updates on Bianca Belair and when she may return as we hear more.
