Billy Gunn’s injury is not behind his AEW absence.

Earlier this week, Billy Gunn revealed that he’s currently dealing with two stress fractures in his back, leading many to believe that the issue has been what’s keeping Daddy Ass away from AEW television.

Billy Gunn’s team have now reached out to WrestlePurists to provide an update on his injury status, revealing that issue is not preventing him from wrestling, but that his absence is instead due to him not being booked by AEW creative.

“Billy is fine, this is a very old injury that he has dealt with for years. It does not interfere with wrestling or training. It just gets sore if he trains too heavy or hard. Attached is a video today showing everyone heiss ok. Because of the internet, our phones have been blowing up asking if his back is hurt. His absence from AEW is due to him not being booked by creative.”

You can find the video attached below, showing Billy Gunn jokingly responding to being asked if he was dealing with a back injury by breaking into a dance to prove otherwise.

During Gunn’s absence, Max Caster and Anthony Bowens have been teasing a reunion for The Acclaimed, though it remains to be seen whether the WWE Hall of Famer will factor into these plans.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the status of Billy Gunn as soon as we hear more.
