‘The American Dragon’ would be open to overseeing ROH.

Ring of Honor has been under the control of AEW President Tony Khan since he purchased the promotion back on March 2, 2022. One of the numerous stars to have made their name in ROH is Bryan Danielson, and it’s clear he holds his legacy with the promotion close to his heart.

In a recent interview with Pario Magazine, Danielson was asked whether he’d like to take over running ROH from Tony Khan, to which the former AEW World Champion admitted that the idea does interest him, but that he feels Tony Khan himself wouldn’t feel the same way.

“Yeah, I mean that would interest me. I don’t think Tony has interest in that. I think Tony does a really great job of juggling all these plates. He does a pretty great job with it. I’m always open to doing whatever the company needs. So yeah, I would love to do it. I think Ring of Honor is a really cool product, especially for our younger talent, to be able to get them exposure. I don’t know if you watched the latest Ring of Honor pay-per-view, it was incredible. Lee Moriarty against, Xelhua? I can’t pronounce that guy’s name very well, but it was an incredible match. Bandido versus Hechicero was unbelievable. Then you had Athena, who’s doing an incredible job, against Mina Shirakawa. So you had these three incredible matches on this pay-per-view. When you see the talent that you’ve got to work with, everybody’s perspective is a little different… Everybody has their little bit of difference where you see something and be like, ‘Oh, okay, I would do something a little bit different here.’ But I wouldn’t say that my version of it would be any better than Tony Khan’s version, I’m not here angling for a job to take over Ring of Honor.”

ROH’s Death Before Dishonor recently took place at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with both Bandido and Athena successfully defending their ROH World Championships against Hechicero and Mina Shirakawa respectively.

In terms of what’s next for the brand, ROH: Final Battle is set for December 5 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Elsewhere during the interview, Danielson talked about how he found out that he’d be joining AEW Dynamite’s commentary team full-time, which you can read more about here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Bryan Danielson and Ring of Honor as soon as we hear more.
