Bryan Danielson won’t aim digs at Nigel McGuinness on commentary.

Nigel McGuinness has been part of AEW Collision’s announce team since its inception, and, regardless of whether or not his rival was performing in-ring, the Brit has regularly been heard firing shots at Bryan Danielson from behind the desk. With ‘The American Dragon’ now set to become a full-time member of the Dynamite broadcast team, Danielson has now discussed whether he’ll return the jabs while performing commentary on Wednesday nights.

Speaking to Pario Magazine, Danielson said he’s going take the opposite approach to that of McGuinness, instead saying he’s going to shower his rival with praise on commentary.

“So one of the things that I really enjoyed doing at Forbidden Door, cause I got to do commentary for Nigel McGuinness against Zack Sabre Jr. I made it a very distinct point in my mind to be like, I’m not going to do what Nigel does. Nigel buries me at every opportunity that he can, and I’m going to be, oh, he’s one of my greatest rivals. Do nothing but put him over. Just shower him with praise. That’s kind of the fun bit. Nigel and I have a great relationship in the sense of like, and that’s our real relationship backstage. He gives me as much crap as he possibly can and I do nothing but put him over.”

-Bryan Danielson

As mentioned, Danielson provided commentary for Nigel McGuinness’ match with IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Zack Sabre Jr. at Forbidden Door. While neither Danielson nor his rival regularly compete in-ring anymore, fans will be glad they can hear both men provide insight each week on Dynamite and Collision respectively.

Elsewhere in the interview, Bryan Danielson discussed whether he’d be interested in taking over Ring Of Honor, which you can read about here.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Bryan Danielson’s new role as a commentator on AEW Dynamite as soon as we hear more.
