Newell and Alize’s AEW involvement has been a topic of controversy as of late.
Following the absence of Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize from the November 8 edition of AEW Collision, conflicting reports emerged over the reasons for their non-appearance. Fightful Select later reported that there were also disagreements surrounding the pair’s debut on November 1.
Fightful Select has now issued a follow-up report on the situation, noting that after a live stream featuring the duo, sources within AEW claimed Bryan Danielson had expressed his disapproval of how their debut match unfolded.
“After the live stream the two participated in, a number of AEW talent and staff reached out about the situation. It was claimed to Fightful Select that Bryan Danielson even spoke with Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize and wasn’t thrilled about the way the match went on November 1, as it wasn’t the goal that AEW had.”

Newell and Alize were originally scheduled to face Anna Jay and Tay Melo on the show, but Hyan and Maya World ultimately took their place after the pair reportedly left the building before the event began.
According to the report, several women from the AEW and ROH locker rooms contacted Fightful to express their frustration over the situation, saying they would have appreciated the chance to perform on AEW Collision, even if it was only for three minutes.

Regarding the above tweet from Miranda Alize posted before AEW Collision, which was later followed by her retweeting criticism of the pair’s booking, Fightful reported that the most common view among AEW talent was that no one would likely have known about the situation had the tweet not been posted.
While Newell and Alize have denied reports of any bad blood with AEW, the report states that the prevailing view is that the tweet and subsequent retweets made a smooth resolution unlikely.
In addition to outlining the events of November 1 and 8 involving Newell and Alize, Fightful Select’s earlier report noted that Newell’s involvement with the promotion was partly motivated by a desire to help her after she spoke openly about her lack of bookings following her departure from WWE.
The latest report provides further details regarding her lack of bookings, revealing that one potential opportunity fell through due to some of her demands, while another planned independent appearance did not go ahead after Newell walked out of the event.
“In regards to Newell not getting many bookings, something that she said herself, we heard that she had talks earlier this year with a company after that. People of influence in that company stated that the conversations didn’t go well, and they soured on possibly booking her because of some of the asks. It was never specified to us what those were. There was also a case earlier this year, where an independent company claims they were having Nixon Newell interfere in a match to set up a future tag team match. Nixon left during the show, the talent didn’t know about it, and when the spot for the match happened, Nixon just wasn’t there.”

Elsewhere during the aforementioned Twitch stream, Newell revealed that she will only be in professional wrestling for one more year.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize’s status within All Elite Wrestling as soon as we hear more.
