Chris Jericho Says He Still Has Some Career Left To Go

Chris Jericho isn’t done as an active pro-wrestler yet.
Since losing the ROH World Championship to Bandido at AEW Dynasty on April 4, 2025, Chris Jericho has been absent from All Elite Wrestling programming, though the veteran star has once again indicated that he isn’t ready to walk away from the squared circle just yet.
When asked whether the current emphasis on a more physical in-ring style worries him in terms of long-term careers during a new interview with GamesHub, Chris Jericho noted that he still has some gas left in the tank but expressed concern for the next generation of talent entering the squared circle.
“What worries me about the guys working today is here I am at 55, 35 years in, with still some career left to go. I don’t know if it’s a year, two years, four years — I’m not sure. But I don’t know how many of the guys working now will have the option to go 35 years. Hopefully all of them. But you can already see what serious injuries do — a bad neck surgery changes everything. The longevity may be harder to sustain when there’s so much emphasis on the physical at the expense of charisma and character. I remember the first time I ever got hurt. I thought I was invincible. I was in León, Mexico, did a dive over the top rope, and the guy who was supposed to catch me — a guy called Masaka — he just stepped aside. I landed on old-school bolted-down arena chairs. I messed up my arm and I thought, oh, I could actually get hurt doing this. And if a guy doesn’t want to catch you, that’s even worse. After that I started getting smart about which moves were worth the risk. The guys who figure that out early are the ones who get the longevity.”

While sources initially indicated that Chris Jericho’s contract with All Elite Wrestling was set to expire at the end of 2025, reports last month revealed that his deal with the promotion may instead have been frozen. You can read more about that here.
At the time of writing, it remains unclear when Chris Jericho’s current deal with All Elite Wrestling is set to expire, however many fans expect that the former AEW World Championship holder could make his way back to WWE when that time comes.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Chris Jericho’s future as soon as we hear more.
