In recent times, several reports have come out to suggest that a CM Punk AEW return could be near. As of writing, it appears as if June 17 is the likely date for the 44-year-old to return to the company on the first edition of their new Saturday show. There have been rumours that this will facilitate a brand split within AEW should it be necessary for Punk to work different dates to other members of the roster, though, this hasn’t been confirmed.
On that note, many will be intrigued to see what the backstage dynamics will be like once CM Punk re-joins the AEW locker room, particularly when it comes to The Elite, who were obviously very much involved in Punk’s controversial suspension from the company last September.
Now, Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed that CM Punk has not apologised or attempted to resolve the tension between himself and The Young Bucks. However, this could be down to the Chicago-born star not being told not to contact them.
“As of the weekend there was no resolution to the situation and there are many situations and things involved. Since I’ve been asked about this a lot, Punk has not apologized or attempted to make any direct amends to the Young Bucks, although those close to him said that’s because he’s been told not to have any contact with them and without any contact he couldn’t. Nobody has said he would if he could or he wouldn’t, because there are people who want everyone to make amends and that was suggested by many of at least an attempt at a way.”

Whether Punk’s eventual return will involve working with The Elite remains to be seen but it seems as if fans won’t have to wait long to see the former AEW World Champion back in the company in some capacity.
