CM Punk says professionals in wrestling don’t have to like their opponent.
When CM Punk made his stunning return to WWE in 2023, a portion of fans were sceptical over whether any tension would emerge in the locker room. However, after almost two years back in the company, there’s been no indication of any backstage issues. Now, the Chicagoan has commented on having to work with people he may not necessarily like.
Speaking on Pardon My Take, CM Punk said professionals don’t have to like who they work with.
“I’m not going out to dinner with anybody. That’s the magic of our business, too. If you’re a true professional, you don’t have to even remotely like the guy you work with. The business is built on trust. If somebody is going to try and double-cross me, that’s a whole different problem, but I work with professionals who aren’t going to do that because I think they do realize, if they do that, there’s going to be some sort of a problem. I’m not going out to dinner with these guys. Some of them don’t like me. Some of them, I don’t care for. That’s the magic and the line we get to weave in and out,”

Punk has had many great rivalries since his return to WWE, with perhaps the highlight being his intense on-screen feud with Drew McIntyre. Up next, ‘The Second City Saint’ will team with AJ Lee to battle Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at WrestlePalooza.
Also on Pardon My Take, Punk discussed what it’s like to have AJ Lee back in WWE. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on CM Punk as soon as we hear more.
