CM Punk Reveals What Drove Him To Abandon Twitter

CM Punk has revealed why he’s no longer active on Twitter.
During his recent appearance on ‘What’s Your Story?’, CM Punk told Stephanie McMahon that he’s been away from Twitter, now known as X, for around five years. Having created his account back in August 2010, the 47-year-old was relatively active on the platform until falling silent in June 2022. Now, Punk has talked more about his exit from X, including the post that made him want to leave.
In a new interview with ESPN New York, CM Punk opened up on how a post in which someone said they were happy about a foot injury he’d sustained made him realise he didn’t need to check the app going forward.
“The thing that got me to abandon Twitter was I shattered my foot, and I just saw somebody say they were happy about it. It didn’t hurt my feelings. I just went, ‘Oh, this is not a comment that I would have seen if I didn’t look at Twitter, so I’m just gonna stop looking at this.’”

The foot injury mentioned is most likely the one he suffered on the June 1, 2022, edition of Rampage, just three days after ‘The Second City Saint’ won his first AEW World Championship. That night, Punk successfully teamed with FTR to take on Max Caster and The Gunn Club, although the damage to his foot actually took place during his entrance, when a dive from the stage into the crowd saw him land awkwardly on the barricade.
The injury caused CM Punk to miss almost three months of in-ring action, with his first match back being the title unification bout between the Chicagoan and Interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley that Punk infamously lost in around three minutes.
The star would go on to depart All Elite Wrestling in September 2023 after numerous backstage altercations, eventually making his way back to WWE. Now two and a half years into his comeback, Punk discussed how the company’s new regime compares to life before Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque assumed control of the creative process. As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on CM Punk as soon as we hear more.
