Cody Rhodes pitched to lose at WrestlePalooza

This past Saturday, the main event of WrestlePalooza saw Drew McIntyre challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. As many had predicted heading into the event, it was ‘The American Nightmare’ who retained his gold on the night, although it’s now emerged that fans almost saw an entirely different result.

Per BodySlam, it’s believed both Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre pitched for Randy Orton to accidentally cause a title change, leading to Rhodes reclaiming it down the line. Interestingly, it would’ve led to ‘The Viper’ turning heel.

“Sources indicate that both Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre pitched Randy Orton accidentally costing Rhodes the Undisputed WWE Championship. This would’ve set up Cody chasing the title once again and winning it back from Drew before Randy pulled the trigger and turned on Cody. The end result ended up being Cody Rhodes standing tall to end WrestlePalooza with no shenanigans.”

Should the pitch had been the final outcome, McIntyre would’ve won the WWE Championship for the first time since losing the title in 2021. Without a sustained world championship run in front of a live audience, the wait goes on for fans of McIntyre to see him reach the mountaintop again.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the plans for Cody Rhodes’ WWE Championship reign as soon as we hear more.
