An update has emerged on whether fans can expect Cody Rhodes to headline WrestleMania 40.
The future of the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship has been a key talking point as WrestleMania draws near. Last April, it was Cody Rhodes who unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns to close out the Show of Shows, and the popular belief among fans over the last 12 months was that The American Nightmare was likely to find himself in the main event spot once again as WrestleMania 40 heads to Philadelphia. However, the recent return of The Rock has made some doubt what the direction will be.
To give an update on the current plan, Sports Illustrated have reported that Cody Rhodes won’t be given the same spotlight, as sources indicate that he isn’t scheduled to return to the ‘Mania main event in 2024.
“Multiple sources close to WWE Head of Creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque have indicated that Rhodes will not headline this year’s event, nor will he “finish his story” at WrestleMania.”

The reports notes that, as an alternative, WWE may look to put on Cody Rhodes vs CM Punk on The Grandest Stage of Them All, referencing the recent groundwork the two laid for a potential match after their segment together this past Monday on Raw.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the plan for Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 as soon as we hear more.
