Cody Rhodes wasn’t phased by Roman Reigns labelling him a politician.

Having clashed in back to back WrestleMania main events at WrestleMania 39 and 40, Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes have forged one of the defining rivalries of the modern era, driven in large part by their palpable onscreen tension.

During the latest episode of his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Cody Rhodes addressed Roman Reigns calling him a politician, noting that the description did not bother him.

“Roman Reigns called me a politician one time, and I remember thinking, I’m not mad at that. I grew up in the business. Everyone is [a politician] to a degree. But to me, there’s politics, there’s posturing, and then there’s snaking and backstabbing… I think a lot of guys in our modern roster are straight up. ‘This is what I think is better. This is what I think isn’t. Let’s talk about it.’ Someone’s making a decision, but the opinion’s been weighed. Because you can smell when you get around the ones today that are like, ‘This is gonna be really good for you.’ And you can already tell, like, ‘No, it’s not. I can tell this isn’t even for me.’”

After winning the men’s Royal Rumble match on January 31 in Riyadh, Roman Reigns is set to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Drew McIntyre will defend the WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown, with Elimination Chamber winner Randy Orton awaiting the victor at WrestleMania.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns as soon as we hear more.
