Dominik Mysterio is viewed highly within WWE.
Since turning heel in September 2022, Dominik Mysterio has experienced an incredible rise through the ranks on Monday night RAW. Currently holding both the WWE Intercontinental Championship and AAA Mega Championship, the sky is the limit for the second-generation star and many in the wrestling space have touted him as a future world champion. Now, we know that WWE themselves also see Dominik as a major star for years to come.
Appearing on ALL THE SMOKE, Cody Rhodes revealed that the current Intercontinental Champion is viewed as someone who could be the future of the company, with ‘The American Nightmare’ agreeing with the notion that Dom could be a headliner.
“Credit to whoever figures out — with load management — whoever figures out how we improve, and I’m seeing it. Dom Mysterio is probably my favorite example. Dom Mysterio does not have the amount of live events that we used to have, although he’s working multiple companies for WWE at the moment. Special, special talent. He’s somebody that’s often cited internally — I don’t think I’m giving anything away here — as somebody who’s gonna be the future of the WWE. He’s one of the ones that when it’s said, I believe it. I think I’m gonna come to a WWE show in 15 years and pay money to see and it will probably be Dom Mysterio on the top of the card, because he’s figuring out how to do it.”
-Cody Rhodes
While they stood opposite the ring from one another in multiple six-man tag team matches on RAW in 2023, the pair actually went one on one at a Premium Live Event that year too. At Money in the Bank at the O2 Arena in London, Rhodes secured the win over Dominik in what was only his third PLE appearance since losing to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
Elsewhere, Rhodes discussed his spot as the current face of WWE, saying he’s keen to ensure he doesn’t become a corporate version of himself. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Cody Rhodes and Dominik Mysterio as soon as we hear more.
