Corey Graves’ social media comments aren’t believed to be a work.

On January 8, Corey Graves made his return to NXT commentary nine years after he last sat behind the desk on the developmental show. However, five days later, the 40-year-old expressed frustration at being moved off SmackDown via a now deleted social media post in which he recalled being told he wasn’t famous enough for his job. Graves then added that he’d have more to say on the issue on the following edition of NXT, but, when he was pulled from the show, it only created more confusion as to what was going on.

In the latest update from Dave Meltzer via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that the situation unfolded as a ‘total shoot’ and wasn’t planned in any way.

One person high up in WWE said after that, “He may be telling everyone it’s a work. And it may turn into one. But it was a total shoot when it was happening.””

To provide more clarity, Sean Ross Sapp then noted via X that Graves hasn’t told anyone that his social media posts were part of a work.

I don’t believe he’s told anyone it’s a work.”

As yet, it’s unclear as to whether Graves will return to NXT in the coming weeks after being pulled from the January 15 episode but the situation is one to keep an eye on moving forward.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the situation regarding Corey Graves’ recent social media frustration as soon as we hear more.
