Last Sunday, Bryan Danielson defeated Swerve Strickland at Wembley Stadium to win the AEW World Championship.
Last Sunday, in front of over 50,000 people, Bryan Danielson defeated Swerve Strickland to claim the AEW World Championship. However, attention quickly turns to the future, and, while fans begin to wonder who may defeat ‘The American Dragon’ for the gold, we now know which potential option has been talked about within the company.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it’s believed that the idea of Darby Allin being the one to dethrone Bryan Danielson has at least been ‘strongly talked about’ within the company.
“The idea is that if Allin wins the title from Danielson, which has been at least strongly talked about, whether in New York or Tacoma (Allin, Strickland and Danielson are all from the state of Washington), the somewhat clean loss does allow for Perry to be in line for a title shot.”

Allin is set to challenge for the AEW World Championship on September 25 at the ‘Grand Slam’ edition of AEW Dynamite. While the idea of him coming out victorious has been discussed, it’s worth noting that a title change is certainly not set in stone and anything could still happen regarding the future of the world title.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the possibility of Darby Allin winning the AEW World Championship as soon as we hear more.
