David Otunga discusses WWE’s documentary on The Nexus.

In May 2021, Fred Rosset (formerly Darren Young) shared a photo of himself filming for WWE’s documentary on The Nexas, initially set for release the following month. However, the footage never saw the light of day as the documentary was shelved. Now, David Otunga has revealed that the project had actually been completed despite it not being released.

In an interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Otunga said he was told the documentary was finished before the team behind it were let go.

“It was was completed and then it ended up like they just finished it. I talked to the guy, one of the producers, and literally like the next day, two days later, he got fired. They all got fired. They got let go in COVID, but I just talked to him and man, this guy was telling me, he was like, yo, the documentary was so good. ‘He’s like, it was long, but they made us edit it down.’ He said he spent a whole day like doing this, got it to where they wanted it. He was telling me how fire my part was. He told me my interview was so good they were saving me for last. I know I smoked it. I’ll be honest with you. But I was just happy that they appreciated it too. They put me on last. I was the main event of the documentary, if you will. But anyway, now it’s not going to see the light of day. I think we should figure out how to get that. But it’s completed. The guy told me it’s completed.”

The Nexus had an incredibly memorable debut on the main roster in 2010, but famously had the legs cut out from underneath them with their SummerSlam loss at the hands of John Cena shortly after. Should Otunga be able to get hold of the documentary, it’s possible he could choose to release it. However, for now, whether that happens remains to be seen.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on WWE’s unreleased documentary on The Nexas as soon as we hear more.
