Drew McIntyre Discusses Whether He Feels Creatively Fulfilled In WWE

Drew McIntyre opens up on his creative direction in WWE
In 2024, a highlight of professional wrestling as a whole was the feud between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. However, once things had moved, many fans of the Scotsman were left feeling that WWE didn’t quite capitalise on the momentum he’d built in the iconic rivalry with the ‘Second City Saint’. In late 2025, McIntyre lost multiple Undisputed WWE Championship matches to Cody Rhodes, and, although the star did win the title in January, some viewers were frustrated over how long it took for him to return to the world championship. Now, ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ has discussed whether he feels creatively fulfilled in WWE.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, McIntyre confirmed he’s currently fulfilled in WWE, noting that he’s able to see the bigger picture.
“Very creatively fulfilled. There were a couple of moments where I was like damn, it sucks personally, but I can also look at the big picture these days. I’ve been knocked down enough times and fed a few disappointments sometimes where I didn’t always deal with it the right way for the bigger picture and understanding, okay, the company needs this right now. How does this screw me up? It doesn’t really. It actually works for the character, and as long as it works for the character, I can be personally disappointed, but professionally, I know we’re still on the right track, and the fans are still going to be emotionally invested, and that’s all that matters, because I’ve been in situations where they were not emotionally invested. And the worst thing in the world in pro wrestling is silence.”

Drew McIntyre captured the Undisputed WWE Championship on the January 9 edition of SmackDown. Despite rumours he could be champion heading into WrestleMania 42, the-40-year-old’s third reign with the gold lasted 56 days before ‘The American Nightmare’ reclaimed the title to set up a match with Randy Orton.
Up next, McIntyre is set to face Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42. The pair will clash in an unsanctioned match at the ‘Show Of Shows’ after their recent altercations have spilled out of control on SmackDown.
