Despite him not yet signing a new deal, WWE are reportedly operating as if Drew McIntyre will stay.
Since April 1 of last year, the future of Drew McIntyre has seemed up in the air. It was reported that the Scottish Warrior’s current deal had entered its final year, with the belief being that he is currently set to stay with the company through WrestleMania 40, but little is known about what’s in store for him as the year progresses.
To provide the latest update on the situation, Dave Meltzer has spoken on Wrestling Observer Radio to maintain that, as of now, McIntyre still hasn’t extended his stay with WWE, despite his prominent role as a heel on Raw in recent months.
“No he (Drew McIntyre) has not signed a new deal, but he seems very happy so far with his new character and he’s really excited about it, and they’re working with the idea that he’s not going anywhere. But nothing’s signed. I think the talk of him taking a lot of time off and everything like that, probably not. He’ll probably sign a new deal. But it’s still just a probable until it happens.”

In terms of the immediate future, Drew McIntyre is set to compete in the Elimination Chamber next Saturday in a match that may see the Scotsman earn a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity at WrestleMania 40. So, the 38-year-old’s trajectory over the next couple of weeks may be telling in terms of whether he is committed to WWE past April.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Drew McIntyre’s contract status as soon as we hear more.
