AEW’s Eddie Kingston is set for a spell on the sidelines.
On May 11th at NJPW Resurgence, Gabe Kidd defeated AEW’s Eddie Kingston to win the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship, although the focus after the match centred around the status of Kingston, with it being apparent that he suffered an injury during the bout.
In today’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer, whilst recapping the bout and the post-match assault from The Elite, revealed that it was confirmed two days after the match that Kingston had suffered a broken leg.
“It was a great angle to set up Anarchy in the Arena, but with Kingston suffering what was being talked about on Dynamite backstage as a broken leg although that was not confirmed it was the exact injury, obviously that changed things. He was limping badly after the match and they were hopeful the injury wasn’t bad enough to put him out. But on 5/13, they found out the leg was broken and had to change around Dynamite and the main event for Double or Nothing.”

As was noted by Meltzer, this past Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw Eddie Kingston replaced by Darby Allin on Team AEW in their upcoming Anarchy in the Arena match against The Elite at Double or Nothing.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on the injury status of Eddie Kingston as soon as we hear more, and we wish him all the best in his recovery.
