The leader of the Death Riders was there for the ‘Mad King’.
Eddie Kingston made his long-awaited return to All Elite Wrestling at AEW: All Out on September 20, defeating Big Bill. Kingston had been out of action since May 2024 after suffering a fractured tibia, torn ACL, and torn meniscus during a match with Gabe Kidd.
In an interview with Busted Open Radio, Kingston spoke about his friendship with the former AEW World Champion, revealing that Moxley brought his family to visit him while he was injured.
“Me and Moxley starved together out on the independents. We would see each other at shows and just hang out with each other… There’s a lot of fake people in wrestling and it’s pretty easy to spot them, if you know what you’re looking for. And Jon’s not fake. Jon knows I’m not fake. So we just gravitated towards each other and just hung out, had our own inside jokes, all that stuff. When you starve with somebody, you really get to know them — Me and Jon became friends to the point where when I was out injured, not a lot of people came to see me. Jon did. Jon brought his wife, his kid. He didn’t have to. It was like eight o’clock at night. I was like, ‘What are you doing? The baby got to eat. Let the baby eat, go to sleep.’ He’s like, ‘No, no, no. They wanted to see you.’ And we didn’t talk business. We didn’t talk wrestling. We just talked life. So that’s my friendship with Moxley.”
-Eddie Kingston
Eddie Kingston defeated Jon Moxley at AEW: Worlds End in 2023 to win the inaugural Continental Classic, becoming a Triple Crown Champion in the process.
Elsewhere during the interview, Kingston claimed that AEW has changed since he joined the company in 2020, though he would not elaborate on whether the change has been positive or negative. You can read more about that here.
Kingston also reflected on the promo he cut on Cody Rhodes in 2020 that ultimately led to him signing with AEW. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on future plans for both Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley as soon as we hear more.
