Gabe Sapolsky reportedly constructs all WWE ID talent’s matches on the independent scene.

The WWE ID program launched in October 2024 is designed to develop and support the training of independent wrestlers with the idea of giving them a pathway into WWE. Recruited talent can still take bookings elsewhere, but more has been reported regarding how the matches of those part of WWE ID are put together.

Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it initially emerged that Gabe Sapolsky is responsible for structuring the matches of WWE ID talent before handing the script to the respective promoter. It was also noted by Meltzer that WWE will cover the wrestler’s travel to a certain extent.

When it comes to the WWEID talent, the deal according to a contract is that Gabe Sapolsky puts the matches together and gives the script to the promoter. The promoter pays the talent and can push that the talent comes from WWE. WWE covers the travel costs with a stipend an the promoter pays the difference if the travel costs are larger than the stipend.

However, GCW Owner Brett Lauderdale responded to the report by making a post on X refuting Gabe’s involvement, saying that Sapolsky doesn’t put the matches together. He also stated that he isn’t aware of WWE contributing to any travel costs.

As of now, there are 18 wrestlers involved with the Independent Development program, with 14 men and four women included. The scheme also partners with training schools, particularly those owned by people already in WWE, to provide trainee wrestlers with top facilities.

As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on WWE ID as soon as we hear more.
