The former World Heavyweight Champion is expecting a step up in opposition.
On December 13 at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, GUNTHER will have the opportunity to retire yet another all-time great as he faces John Cena in what will be the record-setting seventeen-time former world champion’s final match after bringing Goldberg’s career to an end in July.
Speaking to Joseph Staszewski for New York Post Sports, GUNTHER claimed that he is expecting to get more out of his match with Cena than he did with Goldberg, bluntly stating that his opponent will be of a significantly higher skill level.
“Goldberg, I was very pleased with the outcome of that, I think. Obviously, I had different expectations in that match than I have with the match on Saturday. I’m expecting a little bit more out of that because John is such a way more skilled wrestler than Goldberg was. He was very limited in what he could do, so very different scenarios. But yeah, let’s see. I’m very focused on Saturday now.”

GUNTHER defeated Goldberg with a sleeper hold at Saturday Night’s Main Event: XL in the WWE Hall of Famer’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia on July 12 earlier this year and enters this weekend’s show as a strong favourite to do the same to John Cena in Washington D.C.
Elsewhere during the interview, GUNTHER hit back at fans claiming he shouldn’t be John Cena’s final opponent. You can read more about that here.
As always, we’ll aim to provide any further updates on Saturday Night’s Main Event as soon as we hear more.
